Greetings, and welcome to the web page of the Elim Christian Centre, Glossop, Derbyshire, U.K., situated in the beautiful Peak District National Park. I bring you greetings from the congregation here at Elim, I pray and trust that you are keeping well, and if living here in the U.K., looking forward to the onset of the season of Spring. The month of March usually heralds the beginning of Spring, it is a time of the year that I personally look forward to as we put the darkness and drabness of Winter behind us. Nature marks the changing of season by bursting into ‘NEW LIFE’.

In thinking about ‘NEW LIFE’, we are reminded of the fact that we will be celebrating Easter at the end of the month. The story of Easter lies at the very heart of the Christian gospel. On Good Friday, Christians remember the death of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. This was no ordinary death, it was an act of great sacrificial love on the part of Father God in sending His Son Jesus Christ to die for us.

On the cross, Jesus took upon Himself the pain and brokenness of the human heart thus providing a means by which we can be set free from the destruction that sin brings in its wake. It is at the cross where ‘NEW LIFE’ begins!

Easter Sunday is probably the most momentous event on the Christian calendar. This is the day that Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Through His resurrection, Jesus demonstrated His absolute power over sin and death, and the victory He wrought through His great act of sacrificial love on the cross. The risen Christ is able to promise ‘NEW LIFE’ to all who come to Him in faith and repentance. I close by quoting the words spoken by the Angel to the two Mary’s on that first resurrection morning as they discovered Christ’s empty tomb:-

‘DO NOT BE AFRAID, FOR I KNOW THAT YOU SEEK JESUS WHO WAS CRUCIFIED.

HE IS NOT HERE; FOR HE IS RISEN…  COME, SEE THE PLACE WHERE THE LORD LAY’

This great statement, spoken by the Angel on that first Easter morning is the message that can bring ‘NEW LIFE’ to all who place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.
