Greetings, and welcome to the web site of the Elim Christian Centre, Glossop, Derbyshire, U.K. Much has happened both in our nation and in the wider world since I wrote this column in our March edition. Here in the U.K. we face the prospect of another General Election hard on the heels of the last Election in 2015 and the E.U. Referendum of June 2016. One thing we can be certain of, the outcome of the Election on June 8th will have far reaching consequences for our nation as the United Kingdom, our relationships with the nations of Europe and indeed the wider world.

In recent week there has been much by the way of sabre-rattling in connection with the nations of North and South Korea. There has been widespread international concern over North Korea’s determination to acquire a stockpile of nuclear weapons that would not only threaten nations in the Pacific region, but also the mainland of The United States. In response to this, the Americans have deployed a powerful naval armada in close proximity to Korean waters. There were many who feared that this could be the beginning of a Third World War!

One day, Jesus was speaking to His disciples and He was talking with them concerning events that would be happening in the world toward the climax of human history and the times leading up to His return to earth; also referred to as His ‘Second Coming’. He spoke of certain signs that would be in evidence. He warned of the distress and the shaking of nations, and used the term:
‘WARS AND RUMOURS OF WARS’. Many Christian commentators feel that we are living in these times at present and that these current world events are a sign of His impending return. At the same time, Jesus cautioned His disciples not to be fearful. He promised them that in the midst of fearful and uncertain times, real peace and hope could be found in knowing Him as Lord and Saviour.

You also can know this peace and hope that only Jesus can give. Why not contact us here at Elim Christian Centre as we will be pleased to help you in any way we can.
