A Call To Prayer!

Since I spoke on “The Times They Are a-Changing” whereby we discussed the fact that no one enjoys change… “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”, the fellowship has undergone many changes; in leadership; the way we are doing things; and we now await the induction of the new Captain of the Ship, Pastor Tim Cooling. However, we need to embrace these changes because we believe that God is not only in them, but is inspiring them by His Holy Spirit.

As a leadership, we have been preparing the church for something new and believe that everything is in place for our new Pastor who will bring the vision inspired by God for the way forward. But we must continue to pray as already the enemy has sought to bring God’s plan to nothing. Pastor Tim has had serious issues and Joy and myself have been going through difficult times, but nothing will stop God’s work…not on our watch!

In thinking about prayer and praying for those who will lead the church forward, I am reminded that we now have a new Prime Minister, Boris Johnson. No matter what we think of him as a man or leader, he is the one duly elected to lead the government AND the country for the foreseeable future. Paul instructs Timothy,

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Saviour,”

1Tim 2:1-3

It is our duty as true Christians to pray and intercede on behalf of those in authority over us…no matter what our personal thoughts are. Our prayers have an extremely powerful impact in providing the freedom for believers in our nation and communities to live and stand for God without fear and, as Pauls says, what we do in obedience is truly beautiful and pleasing to God.

Please pray for our government that it will bring peace, prosperity and vision to our country, but equally as important, that Pastor Tim will have a safe arrival in the church and that his ministry will see God’s vision brought to fruition.

May God bless you all

Pastor Alan
