Proverbs 4:7 says, The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding. In this proverb there is a very clear link between wisdom and understanding. Understanding is to get to the heart of the matter, to see things clearly, to see things as they really are. It’s the image of a doctor who has properly diagnosed an illness. What happens if a doctor rushes the diagnosis or gets the diagnosis wrong? Everything that follows, the medication and treatment, instead of being helpful, becomes harmful. What we learn here is that if you don’t […]

A Call To Prayer!

Since I spoke on “The Times They Are a-Changing” whereby we discussed the fact that no one enjoys change… “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!”, the fellowship has undergone many changes; in leadership; the way we are doing things; and we now await the induction of the new Captain of the Ship, Pastor Tim Cooling. However, we need to embrace these changes because we believe that God is not only in them, but is inspiring them by His Holy Spirit. As a leadership, we have been preparing the church for something new and believe that everything is in place […]

News Flash!!!

It is with great pleasure we announce that Rev Tim Cooling will be taking over as pastor of the Elim Christian Centre Glossop. As a Church Leadership we are excited that this talented and anointed man has accepted this role. He will be inducted on the 7th September 2019. We also welcome his wife, Sara and their two young sons and are looking forward to sharing fellowship with the whole family.

Moving Forward: The Story So Far…

It has been just six weeks since the baton was passed on to me and so much has happened – and we are truly moving forward. Physical changes to the fabric and looks of the building have been actioned, and the church has been upgraded electronically. There is a newness and excitement in the atmosphere amongst the membership; a sense of excitement and an eagerness to experience what God has in store for us as a church. God is certainly doing something new in and with us! I spoke on May 12th 2019 stating that God is not finished with […]

The Church Under Persecution

We were contacted on Facebook by a dear colleague in Sri Lanka regarding the terrible bombings. This happened virtually as they took place on Easter Sunday. He kept us informed on what was happening until we were advised that all Social Media was being shut down by the government of Sri Lanka. Fortunately, their Government has reacted quite quickly and arrested many of those organising the atrocities that took place. It seems that there is much persecution of Christians going on in the world today. Sadly, most of it is ignored by the media. Whether it is murderous attacks in […]

New Horizons

We have sadly come to the end of an era whereby we are saying goodbye to Pastor Alistair and his family. I’m sure you will agree with me that they will all be missed. His teaching over the last 25 years has benefited the whole church and we are so much the better for his ministry. It goes without saying that they will remain in our thoughts and prayers as they embark on a new adventure. Also, Pastor Alistair is launching out into new horizons and retirement with a new ministry. I am certain that God will really bless him […]

The old saying goes ‘All good things come to an end!’ We at Elim Christian Centre are entering a season of change. It has been my privilege to serve as Senior Pastor for just over twenty five years, and I will be stepping down from this role at the end of April. I want to place on record, via our web page, my heartfelt thanks for having the opportunity of serving this Church over this period of time. There have been joys and also challenges, but through it all God has been incredibly faithful to me and my family. This […]

New Beginnings

Greetings, and welcome to the web site of Elim Christian Centre, Glossop, Derbyshire, U.K. I always rejoice when the month of March arrives in that it usually marks the beginning of the season of Spring with nature coming to life and the prospect of light evenings. The onset of Spring can bring on the feeling of ‘New Beginnings’ and can be the spur to embrace change and adventure. Spring is often the time of the year in which people move house, or contemplate a fresh opportunity in the field of employment. It is often the season in which couples get […]

Political Paralysis

Greetings, and welcome to the web site of The Elim Christian Centre, Glossop, Derbyshire, U.K. Here in Britain at the moment, we find ourselves in the midst of a season of political crisis as our Political Leaders seek to find a way through the impasse of BREXIT. As I write, there seems to be little hope of uniting the warring factions at Westminster, and the clock is rapidly ticking toward the E.U. exit date of 29th March. Many are fearful over the possibility of Britain exiting the E.U. on a ‘NO DEAL’ basis. It is legitimate for Christians to hold […]

New Year 2019

May I take this opportunity on behalf of the Church community here at Elim Christian Centre, Glossop, Derbyshire. U.K., of wishing each and every one of you a very Happy and Blessed New Year. At this time of the year, once all of the festivities of the Christmas season have died down, we often pause and reflect upon the year that has just closed, and look ahead to the challenges and opportunities of the year that lies ahead of us. The passing of a year can serve to remind us of the good times, but also the more difficult moments […]
