The good news is that through Jesus God's ultimate vision is to fill every area of our lives and every corner of the earth with His goodness. So, we want to play our small part in increasing the welfare of this valley. We want to see families flourish, workplaces thrive and communities prospering. For all of Glossop to experience greater peace, goodness, justice and wholeness.
Community Initiatives
We do this by offering programmes, events and initiatives that serve the good of our local community.
Relationships
We seek to build good relationships with community leaders in our town so that we can partner with them, support them or encourage them in their good work.
Inspiring and Equipping
We seek to inspire and equip the people in our church family to live their everyday lives with the intention to contribute to the welfare of Glossop. So, whether they are leading businesses, raising children or anything in between, they will contribute to Glossop's good.
Poverty is so much more than going without. Poverty destroys lives. It robs people of joy, hope, and opportunities. It tears families apart, isolates those most in need of support, and leads many to believe there is no way out.
We partner with Christians Against Poverty to help people develop the tools to help them experience greater financial freedom. It isn't just for those in debt, it is for anyone who wants to develop money management skills. As they say, prevention is better than a cure.
In a time where loneliness is a social epidemic, Connect exists to make connections across the generations, where every person can belong and experience a genuine community.
We meet every Tuesday apart from during holidays and half-terms. There's always a brew ready, cake on offer, and a light lunch free of charge. We often have a variety of things going on from board games, armchair aerobics, live music and dancing, craft activities "a pause for thought" and much more. There's a whole range of ages, from young mums with their children, all the way through to those who are now retired.
In a time where growing up is more challenging and complex than ever, Student Support exists to provide young people with mentors who will be a listening ear, a supportive presence and above all make them feel valued.
Student support is a mentoring scheme for young people in our local high school. We offer support to young people who may not require highly specialised help, but may benefit from a supportive presence in school.
At the moment we have a team of 9 mentors from different local churches supporting approximately 20+ students once a week. Mentors range from people in their 30s all the way through to people in their 70s. It is truly an intergenerational ministry.
